VOLUNTEERING WHILE LOOKING FOR A JOB
WHEN I LOST MY JOB, I HAD NO IDEA HOW HARD IT WOULD BE TO FIND A DIFFERENT JOB.
AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF SEARCHING JOB WEBSITES, I DECIDED TO DO SOME VOLUNTEER WORK TO KEEP MYSELF OCCUPIED DURING THE DAY, WHILE MY KIDS WERE AT SCHOOL.
VOLUTEERING HELPED TO KEEP MY SPIRITS UP, WHILE I CONTINUED TO LOOK FOR A JOB.
IT KEEPS YOUR INTERESTS UP AND HELPS TO KEEP YOU MOTIVATED. IT ALSO HELPS WITH YOUR INTERPERSONAL SKILLS BECAUSE YOU ARE TALKING AND INTERACTING WITH OTHER PEOPLE. IT KEEPS YOUR MIND BUSY AND ON THE BALL.

UPDATING YOUR RESUME
WHEN YOU PUT TOGETHER A RESUME, EVALUTE THE NEEDS OF THE EMPLOYER AND THEN DETERMINE HOW BEST YOU CAN FILL THOSE NEEDS. DO NOT EVER LIE ON A RESUME. IF YOU HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER AND A PRINTER, YOU CAN DESIGN A TARGETED RESUME FOR EVERY JOB THAT YOU APPLY FOR. IF YOU HAVE TO PRINT THEM ALL OUT AT ONCE, YOU WILL HAVE TO GUESS A LITTLE TO COME UP WITH ONE STRATEGY THAT WILL IMPRESS EVERY EMPLOYER THAT READS YOUR RESUME.

I want to scream, I have a degree and I can't get a job
In this economy finding a good job is tough for anyone.I found out that you need to be willing to start at the bottom. Just because you have a college degree, don't assume that you can start higher up.If you live in a city, most insurance companies usually have openings for adjusters. They require a bachelor's degree.
Take your resume and have others look at it. They may offer some suggestions.
Make your resume short, one page. Highlight what you did on other jobs and volunteer work ect. with bullet points instead of paragraphs.
Today, employers have to read a lot of resumes, make it short and direct.
While you are searching for a job, try to do some volunteer work. It gives you something to put on your resume and it may lead to a job. You should also be willing to work part time. While working part time you can still search for something else.

I need to learn how to sell myself to employers
I know my resume is put together and looks great. I am depressed, I don't sleep, I look horrible from the stress of being unemployed. I am trying to learn how to sell myself to the employers so that I can get a job, and get out of this rut. I am tired of not having a job, I am tired of not having any money and tired of not being able to pay my bills. I am proud and I have ALWAYS paid all of my bills early or on time. Not anymore, it makes you feel like you are a low life, or a bum. I did not choose this path, it chose me. i am trying my hardest to keep my chin up and dig my way out of the trenches.
I have read so many articles about job interviews and this is what i put together:
-Be pleasant, concise and businesslike. The attention span of most people is short, so you should not give a complete history of your life. Being prepared is the key and you should keep these tips in mind.
-You will have approximately two or three minutes to talk about yourself. A suggested format includes 45 seconds in which you give a brief history that covers why you left where you were, why you are in the interviewer's office and your educational background. For example: "After graduating from college, I was recruited to work for Company X where I have a variety of assignments. Due to the company restructuring I am pursuing new opportunities."
-During the last minute, concentrate on your work history. This is your opportunity to link what the company is asking for to your qualifications. Review your skills, strengths and accomplishments. For example: "I had the opportunity to work on projects ranging from design and development through implementation.
-Emphasize on your work history, not your personal life. Comments about family, health, politics or hobbies should not be included.
Last but not least, smile and be confident. I hope that these tips work for you. I wish everyone in this situation and anyone trying to better themselves the best of luck.
